I made a Gift of the Magi reference a few days ago, and everybody blanked. That no one had heard of it almost made as sad as the story itself.
Btw, the deaf girl should have signed, "Omg, that's so sweet, but I sold my wrists on the organ black market so that I could buy you the Lexus outside." Of course, I doubt she could sign without wrists, but whatever.

The Lexus would be a nice touch, because it would have one of those huge, douchey red bows on top.
