I dunno/duncare what the cineastes say about Coppola's adaptation of "The Outsiders," but it sure is darkly pretty, even if it's occasionally clumsy. (The version I saw on teevee this week was straight pan-n-scan. Bastards.) Anyway, the Dillon-Macchio-Swayze-Lowe-Estevez-Cruise axis only becomes an issue when Swayze's biceps appear: The flick is a reminder that his acting skillz have remained virtually the same since Day One. And in retrospect, Matt Dillon is totally hilarious as Greaser No. 1. Unintentionally, of course -- which is why he'll always have a career. Too bad C. Thomas Howell didn't have the same shit luck.
